The Hughes Farm was established in the late 18th century and practiced subsistence farming even until the 1970's.
The Hughes family started growing premium Fraser fir Christmas trees in 1970, and still hand raises each tree from seedling to harvest.

The Club Christmas trees were grown on a family farm in Avery County , near Newland, North Carolina under the shadow of the Grandfather Mountain.
